Deployment and setup
System requirements
Prerequisites, starter estimates and capacity limits.
Release status — 20 October 2026: Squire 1.0.0-beta.1, including the coach Android app, is published and accepted for beta evaluation. Packaging/signature checks passed, the founder accepted the Galaxy S20+ standalone field/offline walkthrough, and the uploaded Android bundle's APK checksum matches the recorded build. Broader device, accessibility and historical-upgrade coverage are follow-up work, not unfinished beta.1 release gates. Institutions still approve their own environment and privacy/security arrangements before using real athlete data.
Development
The application documents Node.js 22.16 or 24, npm and Docker Compose. Production app images currently pin Node.js 22.16; review runtime security before production. This website separately targets Node.js 24.
Self-hosting
Use a Unix server, Docker Compose, a domain pointing to the server, persistent PostgreSQL/private-file storage and Caddy HTTPS. Keep PostgreSQL internal and reserve protected off-host backup storage.
Sizing estimates
Optional VM templates default to 2 vCPU and 4 GiB RAM, with 50 GiB disk on AWS/Google Cloud and 64 GiB on Azure. These are starter estimates, not measured minimums or load-tested capacity. Build memory, files, concurrent use and backups affect sizing. No concurrent-athlete capacity is established.
Devices
The web app serves administrators, coaches and athletes on responsive layouts. Chromium desktop and WebKit phone emulation do not certify physical phones, tablets or iOS browsers.
The optional Android field app serves coaches. Its configured minimum is API 24; the published APK includes ARM64 and x86_64. These settings do not certify every supported device. The founder reports the first Galaxy S20+ walkthrough passed on 20 October 2026; broader hardware/tablet coverage remains open. A local standalone phone test can use USB forwarding without a domain, Metro or emulator; see the phone guide.

On 20 October 2026, the founder reported that the instructed Galaxy S20+ standalone installation and field/offline-recovery walkthrough worked as intended. This is a successful owner-reported physical-phone check. Android version, the installed APK checksum and per-locale/accessibility results were not supplied; broader device, tablet, accessibility and historical-upgrade coverage remain separate. See the recorded phone result and application PR #136.
